Why did I choose this topic?? I was following this world cup seriously and all cricket fans were so interested in some of the gr8 names who were playing their last world cup. Almost all of them are their nations pride. But there is one man who will be saluted by the whole cricketing fraternity and it is the legend himself, SRT. I am not a die hard fan of Sachin though.
I started liking Sachin not for his game but for his character on the field. More than a cricket star he is a lovable human being. But when compared to all other legends he stands out tall in one aspect. He can be portrayed as an example to an IDEAL human being in the world.
He respects people around him irrespective of the age. Some of his gestures during this world cup was amazing. Let it be a UDRS discussion with Virat when compared to Sehwag's wasting a couple. Sachin walking for a dismissal where as Ponting reluctant to do so.
So on all these aspects what Impact does Sachin have on his fans. It is not all about cheering on a match day and then forgetting. Have seen couple of mates during my college cricketing venture. One of my friend used to have a pic of sachin in his bible. Everytime he gets on to the field he does his rituals with this Bible and Sachin. I was so amazed and sometimes even irritated by his actions. But what impact does it have on someone's real life.
The little master has got into the roots of some of his fans human values. I was surprised to see one of his ardent fans and a friend of mine. He is so honest when he is playing and walks out if he has to. Will not cheat on any count and he is so true to the game.
Lately, I had a chance to be with him off the field on more than a couple of occasions. One of our common friend had to sell his car which has some known problems. When he heard abt this, he straight away said that it was not good way to do. I was surprised to hear him say this. Totally impressed by this gesture was silently listening to him.
On the day of the WC finals, he was so pumped up. He was in real good mood until Sachin got out. Never he spoke a word for the next one hour. His face was pale, was not answering his wife properly. He was totally stunned. The next day of the match we were playing cricket in his lawn and he was so honest when compared to all the youngsters around him in all aspects.
If a sports hero could impact someone's personal life so hard, what it takes an individual to grow up like Sachin did. No answers!!
